Danny Cipriani of London Wasps has been forced to withdraw from the England Saxons match against Ireland A at Bath's Recreation Ground this weekend.

The Wasps star fly-half had been set to re-start his international career with the Saxons but the Rugby Football Union confirmed on Thursday that Cipriani is unavailable for selection.

An RFU statement said,"Danny Cipriani is unavailable for selection for this Sunday's match, England Saxons v Ireland A at Bath's Recreation Ground, due to a family bereavement."

"Danny has the full support of the Saxons coaches and management as well as all at London Wasps through this difficult time."

England Saxons coach Stuart Lancaster however did not have to look too far for a replacement fly-half and Shane Geraghty got the nod.

Lancaster could also have called upon Stephen Myler and Charlie Hodgson who are also in the Saxons squad.

Alex Goode (Saracens) will start at full back making way for Northampton's Shane Geraghty at fly half.

Whilst Leicester Tigers scrum half Ben Youngs makes his England Saxons debut.

David Strettle (Harlequins) returns to the wing alongside an experienced Saxons backline of Dominic Waldouck (London Wasps), Brad Barritt (Saracens) and Noah Cato (Saracens).

Worcester's Tom Wood and David Attwood (Gloucester Rugby) make their Saxons debuts. Whilst newcomers Geoff Parling (Leicester Tigers), Jon Clarke (Northampton Saints) and Miles Benjamin (Worcester Warriors) take their place on the bench.

Lancaster said, "We are really looking forward to Sunday. We have a young squad full of quality players and a good mix of experience. I'm sure they will rise to a challenging Ireland A squad.

"Bath Rugby have a passionate and loyal fan base and we hope to see as many of them as possible out on Sunday cheering us on and watching this exciting group of players in action."

Last year England Saxons recorded victories against Portugal (66-0) before travelling to Denver for the Churchill Cup, beating Argentina Jaguars (28-20) and USA (56-17) on the way to the final where they lost to Ireland A 49-22.,
